The Board exams usually last for 45-50 days and end ahead of summer vacation when most teachers go on leave. This forces the Board to get ad-hoc and contractual staff to evaluate mark-sheets, making room for errors.
CBSE to conduct Board exams in March, not February
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to hold its Class 10 and 12 exams in March, after Holi.
It had earlier planned to conduct the exams in February to give teachers more time to evaluate mark-sheets and ensure quality checking.
However, now it’s reportedly trying to conduct the Board exams in shorter duration to ensure the examiners have the needed time
One million students to write CBSE Class-12 exams in 2018
Over 18,000 schools across India are affiliated to the CBSE, the country’s largest school board.
About 1.1 million students – 6,38,865 boys and 4,60,026 girls – have registered for the CBSE Class 12 exam this year, a 2.82% increase from last year’s 1.067 million. As many as 3,502 centres and 10,678 schools have registered for the Class 12 exams.
